offset 2010...

thursday night , at approximately 8pm, i stumbled upon a blog post about 'offset', an event in dublin this week that is  "showcasing world-class creatives in design, illustration, fashion, photography, publishing, advertising, animation and more," (click here for more)...maybe the shock of being back to college had lulled me into an oblivious coma but i hadn't heard of this event until i read about it on whatwilliweartoday -  thanks ladies!

i promptly dropped everything, packed a bag and hopped on the next train (5.30 am) to the capital...an opportunity to hear a variety of creative minds speak at dublin's new canal bank theater seemed to good to miss! i only wish i had heard about it earlier so i could have booked work off and attended the whole weekend as well as all the events on in the city...

and was it worth it ? was it what!!.cliona o' flaherty
gave a great insight into her career as a photographer..
celestine cooney
was fascinating and so friendly..i unashamedly barraged her with questions and gushed at her and she took it all with a smile and was delighted to help, she made my day! her work with bianual 'twin' is incredible - check it out here...

                                                                                stylist aisling farinella

, kate nolan of re-dress

and  designer renate henschke

each gave invaluable advice on the fashion industry and advice on how to break through in ireland's small market...i loved how honest the girls were and eager to share what they've learned... moderator rosemary maccabe  of fash- mob was spot on in terms of quizzing the girls it was really encouraging as , we all know, it's often difficult to know what to do next...

                                                              the setting....

the fuel...

the note taking...

artist daniel eatock provided a much needed laugh in
the midst of the information overload that was the day...

i could blab on about the thing for donkeys but , on short, it was great  fun and i'd definitely recommend it for next year! if for no other reason then to eye up the stylish turn out...
